1985 Manila Beer Brewmasters season

The 1985 Manila Beer Brewmasters season was the second season of the franchise in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA).

Occurrences

• Two-time MVP Ramon Fernandez was sent by Manila Beer to Tanduay in exchange for one-time MVP Abet Guidaben in a blockbuster trade that took place three weeks after the start of the PBA Third Conference.

Season Recap

• Manila Beer (known as Beer Hausen last season) failed to reach the semifinals of the PBA's First two conferences, the Brewmasters were eliminated by the NCC, 98-75 in a knockout game for the last semis berth of the Open Conference, In the All-Filipino, Manila Beer lost to Shell, 95-90 on the last day of the eliminations and were booted out for the 2nd time in the season.
• In the Third Conference, Former PBA import, the hulking Francois Wise was the Brewmasters' reinforcement, Manila Beer started off with a 114-112 win over Tanduay Rhum in the opening game of the PBA Reinforced Conference on September 8, three weeks after, a blockbuster trade took place sending Manila Beer center Ramon Fernandez to Tanduay Rhum in exchange for Abet Guidaben.
• Manila Beer top the two-round eliminations at 9-win, 3-loss and an outright semifinals berth, the Brewmasters clinch the first finals seat with a come-from-behind 99-93 win over Northern Consolidated (NCC). In the Best-of-Seven championship, Manila Beer was swept, 4-0 by the Northeners of coach Ron Jacobs, led by two naturalized players, Jeff Moore and Dennis Still.
